What personal data I collect and why

Site visit

When visiting this site your IP is being logged on the server. This is done to help combat bots, spam and brute-force attacks. Offenders are automatically IP blocked, rest of IPs just rot in the log and they are not used in any shape or form.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site I collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help with spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Cookies

This site uses only cookies that are necessary. There are no other cookies like tracking, analytics etc.

If you leave a comment on my site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

Embedded content from other websites

I do not share data with anyone. Ever. Not only I do not care about your data but also I hate selling people’s data without their consent.

How long I retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so I can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue. When I decide to take this site down all data will be purged.

What rights you have over your data

You can request that I erase any personal data I hold about you from the comment section. This does not include any data I am obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service (Akismet).
